Supporting Lasting Change

Supporting Lasting Change

Einstein Rising Canada was founded in 2025 by Derek Lobo after 5 years of hands-on work alongside social impact entrepreneurs and local support organizations in the developing world. Through this experience, one insight consistently stood out: the most effective and sustainable solutions are often developed and led by people within the communities themselves. While many organizations play an important role in global development, Einstein Rising focuses specifically on empowering local educators and social impact entrepreneurs who already understand their communities’ needs but may lack access to funding, mentorship, and broader networks. By working closely with these local leaders and maintaining a lean operational model, we are able to direct more resources toward education, entrepreneurship, and community-driven innovation. Our approach supports long-term self-reliance by strengthening schools, nurturing future leaders, and enabling homegrown solutions that create lasting impact

Einstein Rising

Einstein Rising (Uganda) has moved away from traditional aid models to circumvent aid dependence and wealth redistribution by assisting in the expansion of economic advancement through the creation of wealth. This wealth creation system is led by socially conscious African entrepreneurs. Our method guides social entrepreneurs along their journey utilizing mentorship, practical tools, and rigorous programs so they discover how to successfully run and grow their company.

Einstein Rising resources advance individuals’ skills, knowledge, and other assets that ultimately benefit the economy, ecosystems and communities.

Vista Ventures Social Impact Fund

Vista Ventures Social Impact Fund

Vista Ventures Social Impact Fund is an American tax exempt non-profit organization that provides education and financial support to social entrepreneurs in developing countries in Africa, South Asia and Latin America. They bridge the gap to the first investment capital raised by early stage for-profit social enterprises from angel investors, funds and other sources of commercial capital. Because of the challenges and new business models encountered in developing countries, the process of raising capital often requires more time, complexity and expense. In addition to advice, Vista Ventures assists social entrepreneurs to validate the business model, recruit additional members of the management team, close initial sales with key customers, and/or reach agreement with lead investors. As a small organization, Vista Ventures accomplish these tasks using only experienced volunteers so every dollar raised goes toward assistance to social entrepreneurs. The end result is sustainable progress toward alleviating poverty and climate change as well as increasing agricultural productivity among the people who need it most.

“Empowering Communities through Education and Entrepreneurship”

MISSION
At Einstein Rising Canada, our mission is to cultivate thriving communities in the developing world by strengthening the foundations of education and social entrepreneurship. We equip primary schools, students, and local changemakers with the tools, mentorship, and financial support they need to build a future of their own making.

APPROACH
We believe in equipping young learners with a strong academic foundation while empowering future leaders with the skills to launch and grow businesses that address critical community challenges.

By investing in both schools and social enterprises, we foster self-reliance replacing aid dependence with homegrown innovation.

Uganda is where the Einstein Rising story begins.

Why Uganda

Uganda is where the Einstein Rising story begins.

Uganda is where the Einstein Rising story begins. Derek Lobo was born in Uganda, and although his family was forced to leave during the Idi Amin expulsion, his early years there created a lifelong connection to the country and its people. As Einstein Rising explored opportunities across regions, it became clear that early-stage social impact entrepreneurs in Uganda often face more foundational barriers than in other countries where entrepreneurial ecosystems are further developed. By starting in Uganda, Einstein Rising is able to support entrepreneurs and educators at critical early stages—where access to education, mentorship, and capital can make the greatest difference—and help foster locally led solutions that strengthen communities from within.

What’s Holding Uganda Back
Uganda is a country of remarkable potential, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit—but many communities continue to face structural challenges that limit opportunity and long-term growth.

  • Infrastructure gaps remain a significant barrier. While Uganda generates enough hydroelectric power to meet domestic and regional demand, limited transmission infrastructure means many rural communities lack reliable access to electricity. Roads are often in poor condition, making transportation slow, costly, and unpredictable. These challenges increase the cost of doing business and make it difficult for local enterprises to grow and serve their communities effectively.
  • Access to quality education is another critical issue. Although public primary education is officially free, the funding schools receive from the government is not enough. Classrooms are frequently overcrowded, with limited access to basic learning materials. Economic pressures also force many families to keep children at home to help with household responsibilities and save the costs of uniforms and school supplies. As a result, while Uganda has a strong pool of capable and motivated entrepreneurs, access to education remains uneven—particularly for those in lower-income and rural communities.
  • Well-intentioned aid has also shaped the local economic landscape. Uganda has long benefited from the presence of NGOs and charitable organizations providing essential services and relief. At the same time, widespread reliance on free goods and services can unintentionally make it harder for local social enterprises to sustain themselves. Entrepreneurs offering food, clean water, energy, or education services often struggle to reach customers when similar support is intermittently provided at no cost by foreign NGO’s. This dynamic can discourage market-based solutions and limit the growth of locally led enterprises.

Einstein Rising Canada works in Uganda to address these challenges by strengthening education and supporting social impact entrepreneurs—helping communities move toward greater self-reliance, resilience, and locally driven development.
